The Guilford Senior Citizens Program provides services, programs and trips for seniors and active adults 55 and over. Our goal is to promote independence, creativity, social networking and involvement in the community. Services offered include a hot meal program, transportation to the community as well as medical and personal care appointments, educational and fitness programs and day and overnight trips.  To register for upcoming programs, click here.

Programs

Many programs are offered for seniors and active adults in the Guilford community, in areas including fitness, crafts, dance, and foreign language. These activities are designed to encourage older adults to stay active, healthy, and involved with other active adults in the community. NEW!! Join the newly formed active adult chorus. The Guilford Senior Chorus is up and running and has been having fun rehearsing weekly and planning for performances at area nursing  homes and at the Parks and Recreation Department’s Community Picnic.  If you like to sing consider joining us.  Practice is on Mondays from 11:15-12:15 P.M.

SSILL

The Schiller Shoreline Institute for Lifelong Learning offers intellectual programs to retired and semi-retired citizens of Guilford and Madison, who share a love of learning and passion for expanding their knowledge base. Membership is open to all adults looking to enjoy a few hours of intellectual stimulation and social interaction. Residents from other communities who are interested are also welcome to attend.

Affiliated with the Road Scholar, we offer daytime academic programs designed to suit varied interests. Instructors and team leaders are all unpaid volunteers. The SILL objective is to offer college-level classes without concern for credit, grades, or prerequisites. No previous level of high school or college education is required. All that is asked for is your interest and enthusiasm! For more information visit www.ssill.org.

Trips

Various day and overnight excursions are planned for adults 55 and older. Day trips are planned to the theatre, musical performances, museums, historical sites, and shopping centers. Overnight trips under consideration to 2011 include Gettysburg and Tennessee.
